    The Wooden Feather

Being retired or as my granddaughter said "retarded" the following happened. I retired from Law Enforcement this past March. After being in that field for 21 years - and being the first officer to retire from my department I decided that I need something to do during the winter months. When your involved with people every day - the good/the bad/the ugly something has to take up your time. Nice weather is no problem, as I fish, metal detect and have a yard and garden in the space of 1 3/4 aces. So I built a shop - 24 X 24 Cleary building. This will be my wood working shop and hide away for the cold days. I started wood burning and found out that I really like it - along with scroll sawing. Pyrography is really fun - and is fairly cheap to get into. I feel that this is something that I have a little ability to do it. I will show some of my projects that I have completed along with come other projects.

One of my hobbies is woodworking, to which I am a beginner to say the least. I just built a shop, not too big, 24 x 24 feet. But is all that I wanted and I love to be in there during the winter on cold windy days. A few of my projects, I will show. First I will show my shop, little but mighty. Below are photo's of the shop - tables that I built and some of the projects. The cat is Tigger - the shop foreman.

My website at Wood Magazine - My shop was published in this Magazine

    GO FISH ! ! !

One of the places that I really like to fish - is CJ Strike just South of Mountain Home. Pretty neat place (see pictures). You name the fish and you can probably catch it there. Catfish, crappie, bass, trout, sturgeon, carp, troup, ect. The Narrows is a really good place to fish - some large bass - trout - and catfish there. Be careful going along the edge of the lake - some pretty big rock just under the surface. I use all plastic bait - during the fall the perch fishing is something different - expect to catch 50 to 150 perch - on a good day - just off the dock at Cottenwood. Of course you may get skunked also - as I have done on a few trips. Another spot is the Hell's Canyon area - I really love this place but because we sold our camper - will probably not go there anymore - unless I can find the money to purchase a small trailor. Its great fun and Idaho Power keeps the parks up great with low cost to stay in the almost perfect camp grounds. Plus the fishing is something else.

Good luck - and if your not going to eat it - catch and release..
